Toronto Travel Guide
The capital of Ontario province is the largest populated city in Canada and the fifth largest in North America. Toronto is divided into many neighbourhoods; each is compact and easy to explore on foot and serves the needs of the many nationalities and ethnic backgrounds of the city. Each district has its own style, uniqueness and culture and they all intermingle well together within the city creating a truly sophisticated and chic atmosphere.
This mosaic of cultures offers visitors a wide range of activities, festivals, crafts and exhibits and foods from every corner of the world. Canada's largest gallery, the Art Gallery of Ontario, houses the largest Henry Moore collection in the world. European paintings and some local work are also showcased.
Toronto Tourist Attractions
The Bata Shoe Museum and the Canadian National Exhibition both have good galleries, but the Royal Ontario Museum is a favourite tourist attraction and locals alike. Tours are available daily to give excellent details of each gallery and offer a better understanding of Toronto and its history and people.
For the best panoramic views, go to CN Tower. It is the world's second largest free-standing building and has a revolving floor restaurant that is an excellent place from which to view Toronto's picturesque sunsets. A visit to the unusual 1900s Casa Loma castle will not disappoint.
The summer brings out Toronto's beachcombers although still a little cool by some people's standards. The Toronto Islands are considered the best because they are still unspoilt and offer some quiet secluded areas for private getaways.
Transportation Around Toronto
Pearson International Airport is about 45 minutes from downtown depending on traffic and offers daily flights to and from most major destinations world wide. Taxis and shuttle buses are readily available. All major car rental agencies are accessible at the airport.
Before travelling to a foreign country, it is highly advisable to get travel insurance. In the event of an accident or illness, medical expenses can be costly. Travel insurance can provide you and your family assurance that your trip will be the most memorable.
