About the Resort
A good all round purpose built resort with a lovely village setting and good shopping. The traditional pedestrianised centre has an open air ice rink and cobbled streets and a chic atmosphere. It can become very crowded at weekends with French holiday makers arriving by car. There is a lot to do off the slopes including cinemas and a casino.
About the Mountains near Megeve
With most of the slopes below 6,500 feet a lack of consistant snow is a problem. The three main mountain afford mostly intermediate skiing. The resort has expanded it's snow making with some runs being entirely covered. The expert skier will find plenty of space as many prefer to head of to Chamonix which is only 45 minutes away. The beginner will find slopes at valley level with lots of green runs to progress to.
Après Ski at Megeve
There is a good selection of mountain restaurants to suit all tastes and budgets. The resort is extremely pretty after dark with lots of upmarket restaurants, a few bars but not much in the way of wild nightlife.
