Italy Ski Resort Guide for Cervinia

Cervinia Ski Resort Guide

About the Resort

Although not the most attractive resort, it is made up of a haphazard collection of buildings and apartment blocksit has a pleasant centre. It is a Popular choice for weekenders from other parts of Italy and day trippers that can make it feel too overcrowded. There are a series of slow drags and chairs from the centre of the village as the other gondola and cable car are an uphill walk away. You can take a day trip to other resorts from here (including Champoluc and Gressoney).

About the Mountains near Cervinia

The main slopes are high sunny and mostly west facing. They are split into two sections by a gorge which runs from top to bottom of the mountain. There are a few woodland pistes but the whole area is prone to closure due to poor weather conditions. High winds tends to blow the snow off the limited off piste areas. Experts will not find enough here to keep them occupied but it is intermediate heaven. Beginners will not feel left out and it is a good resort for the confident ones who will quickly progress. Not a great place for cross country.

Après Ski at Cervinia

The mountain restaurants can be a bit of a hit and miss affair. Some good eatieries can be found but you may need to visit a few first. Apres ski is not the reason to visit this resort, it is available but not the best there is.
