Marbella is a popular beach resort town on the Costa del Sol it draws the rich and famous who make the most of the expensive shopping, clubs and hotels. Dubbed as the ‘Spanish St Tropez’, Marbella has something to offer all kinds of tourists, not just the very rich, who wish to enjoy the glitzy nightlife or just walk along the beaches.

In the Old Town area, visitors can see remnants of ancient Marbella and its Arabic influences. The castle, also known as the Alcazaba Wall, is home to one of the city’s main thoroughfares, while the avenida Ramon y Cajal is a stunning area that is lined with attention-grabbing Moorish architecture.

History buffs will not want to miss the archaeological excavations that have been made in the mountains around Marbella. At these various sites evidence has been discovered of human habitation dating back to Paleolithic and Neolithic times.

Marbella Tourist Attractions

One of the top attractions is the Paseo Maritimo. This chic waterfront walkway is perfect for an evening stroll. Here you can walk leisurely along the seven kilometres of marble floor that runs from Puerto Banus, a classy yacht marina, to Banana Beach.

Another fashionable area is the avenue del Mar. Recently re-developed, the avenue houses an impressive collection of Dali sculptures, beautiful architectural gems and amazing gardens and landscapes.

Nature lovers will certainly be enchanted by the Jardin el Angel, one of the best botanical gardens in the region. There are two other parks in Marbella that offer weary travellers a reprieve from the sun and the bustling activity of the city: Arroyo de la Represa and Parque de la Constitucion.

Marbella has some truly amazing beaches. There are miles of pristine coastline, and its home to 24 different beaches. One of the more popular tourist beaches is Guadalmina Beach. This long and wide stretch of beach has thick golden sand and is lined with swaying palms. Guadalmina offers fantastic windsurfing and jet-skiing opportunities and has a wide selection of beachfront cafés and bars. Other beach hotspots include the Linda Vista and the San Pedro de Alantar beaches which are situated in the urban area of San Pedro de Alcantara.

Marbella has a superb tourist infrastructure with a wide array of hotels and resorts to choose from as well as a quality selection of fine restaurants and abundant shopping opportunities. There is even horseracing on offer just a 15-minute drive from the city.
