Situated on the southwest coast of Thailand in the Andaman Sea, the picturesque province of Krabi has some of the country’s most stunning beaches and natural scenery. With dramatic limestone cliffs and lush green forests coupled with pristine white sand beaches it is easy to see why Krabi draws so many tourists on their holidays each year.

With pre-historic remains dating back 40,000 years, Krabi is a very interesting place to explore. Many of the surrounding islands are part of a national park and protected from development. Day tours offering jungle trekking and walks along perfect beaches are available. This untouched beauty has even been including in some Hollywood movies such as James Bond classic Man with the Golden Gun and The Beach.

Krabi is home to some amazing marine life which can explored on one of the many diving and snorkelling tours on offer. There is also rock climbing, kayaking and mountain biking for the more adventurous, while fishing, golf, hot springs, Thai cooking classes and elephant rides are available. The Ko Lanta National Park, are coral-fringed islands very popular with scuba divers. The two national parks, Khao Phanom Bencha and Than Bokk-horani, are hauntingly beautiful with waterfalls and caves, outstanding location for trekking, birdwatching and recently even more popular due to their eco-tours.

The surrounding islands off the mainland in the province of Krabi are home to some of the most exclusive and luxury five-star resorts in Thailand. The breathtaking landscape has been well maintained, with resorts carefully constructed to mesh with the natural environment. There are also many less expensive beachside bungalows that are a perfect place to stay for a relaxing holiday.

Transport Around Krabi

Krabi is easily accessible by road, air or sea. Krabi airport has recently opened an international terminal, which has flights arriving from nearby cities in Southeast Asia. Taking a bus or driving a car is a comfortable option as the roads to Krabi are well maintained. There are also many ferry and boat services operating in and around the province’s islands.

Whilst Krabi has a low crime rate and is considered very safe it is still important to take care with your valuables. When leaving items in hotels and bungalows, make sure to use the hotel safe. With so many adventure activities to enjoy such as rock climbing and scuba diving it is advisable to take out a full insurance policy for you and your family before travelling to avoid any problems should something unfortunate occur.
