Pattaya Travel Information
Positioned on the north shore of the Gulf of Thailand, Pattaya is just a short two-hour drive from the busy metropolis of Bangkok. The seaside resort town is very popular with golfers as it has more than 20 courses within a short distance. It has an interesting nightlife with go go bars high on the list of entertainment available to the predominantly male holidaymakers.
The Wat Khao Prayai temple has amazing views of the city and is home to a 10-metre high golden Buddha statue. A 'Ripley's Believe It or Not' museum is located in the Royal Garden Plaza mall, while an elephant village can be found just outside of the city.
Pattaya Tourist Attractions
Along the beaches there are rows of deck chairs available for rent. Beach vendors sell everything from food and drinks to Thai handicrafts and even beachside Thai massages. Jet skis, sail boats, parasailing and snorkelling are also widely offered. Pattaya is one of the oldest diving centres in the whole of Asia and its warm waters provide a home to some beautifull marine life. One of the most popular tourist attractions is the Elephant Village, where elephants are trained to take part in ceremonies. Pattaya's temples include the Sanctury of Truth and the Wat Khao Phra Bat temple which overlooks the bay of Pattaya.
Throughout the city there are many choices for accommodation ranging from budget guesthouses to boutique style hotels and luxury five-star resorts situated on the beach offering fabulous views. Restaurants are in abundance, with many offering freshly caught local seafood. Authentic Thai food is available, served on the street, for very little money all night long.
Transport Around Pattaya
The easiest way to get to Pattaya is by road. Buses leave from Bangkok every hour, usually taking around two to three hours depending on traffic and are inexpensive. Private mini vans and taxis are available leaving from Bangkok's Suvarnbhumi International Airport or any hotel. There is also a small national airport situated an hour's drive east of Pattaya, which can be convenient if arriving from other parts of Thailand.
