Travel Insurance FAQ's
What is travel insurance?
Travel insurance is an insurance to cover the cost of unforeseen and unexpected events that can occur while you are on holiday, such as medical emergencies and injuries to losing your valuables.
What does travel insurance cover?
Travel insurance policies should cover you for medical expenses that you need to pay if you fall ill or injure yourself while on holiday. Repatriation cover should also be included should you need to be brought home early because of your medical condition. Your travel insurance should also be able to help you cover the costs of replacing baggage and personal possessions should they become stolen or damaged and cancellation cover should you have to cancel your trip abroad or end it early subject to eligible criteria.
Why do I need travel insurance?
Travel insurance offers peace of mind in case something unexpected or unforeseen happens, so when you are away it is reassuring to know that if you’re injured or fall ill when away you will be covered for emergency medical and dental treatment.
But that’s not all, as other problems such as being delayed or losing your passport can cause extra expense or can be harder to deal with while abroad. Some cover may be optional, like cover for your personal belongings or for travel disruption, so make sure that you have the cover that you need when making your travel plans.
What is a pre-existing medical condition and how can I cover them?
A pre-existing medical condition is a short or long term illness or injury you have or have had before you buy travel insurance. This can also include any symptoms, tests, diagnosis or medical treatments you are having or scheduled to have. It is important that all pre-existing medical conditions are declared however trivial some may seem. During the quote process you can declare your pre-existing conditions and see if we can cover them and what additional premium may be charged.
