Brussels Travel Guide
Brussels is the capital city of Belgium and has been a top destination for tourists and jet-setters for many years. Anytime is a great time to visit Brussels, as the city offers a slew of activities year-round. It is especially great between May and September, when the weather is usually perfect. Brussels has a rich history and has enjoyed being the premier vacationing spot for the European elite.
The city is an absolute treasure trove of historic artefacts and historical places of interest. It is home to a vast number of museums, theatres, palaces and statues. The Royal Palace of Laeken and the Royal Palace of Brussels demonstrates the luxury and opulence that the city is accustomed to. World-class museums like the Royal Museums of Fine Arts of Belgium houses wonderful collections of artworks from some of the great masters. One of the most photographed works is the Manneken Pis, a small bronze fountain sculpture depicting a little boy urinating into the fountain's basin.
Another form of artistry that Brussels has perfected is the art of making chocolate. There are sumptuous and luxuriously cosy chocolate venues sprinkled throughout the city. A favourite treat for visitors and locals is warm waffles and chocolate. The city also offers fine dining restaurants that serve the graceful local cuisine and international favourites. Seafood is a culinary staple in Brussels - almost as much as a cold beer.
Brussels Tourist Attractions
Brussels' Grand-Place is undeniably one of Brussels' top tourist attractions. The Town Hall is filled with 17th century Baroque architecture and Gothic buildings. This magnificent square is lined with the famous sculptures of Peter van Dievoet.
Brussels is also home to several universities as well as the prestigious Conservatoire Royal drama school, which has been attended by many of Belgium's top actors. The students give the city a youthful vibrancy that is reflected in the trendy bars and pubs found virtually everywhere in the city.
Sports In Brussels
Sports enthusiasts will find numerous sporting activities on offer in the city. Football and cycling are the top sports played here; however, you will also find that motor cross sports are very popular among the locals.
We do strongly recommend that you obtain travel insurance prior to visiting Brussels. Although the city is an extremely safe destination, accidents can happen, especially if you are into motor cross racing. An insurance policy will give you peace of mind knowing that you are protected if an emergency occurs.
