Madrid Travel Information

The government headquarters are located in the Casa de Correos. Directly opposite is the El Oso y El Madroño, the city's official symbol featuring a bear. Rich Byzantine architecture defines the Church of San Miguel, created by Francisco Arbós y Tremantí with great attention to detail, and the vibrant façade adds a finishing touch.
Madrid Tourist Attractions
A major tourist draw are Madrid's museums, with the 'Golden Museum Triangle' home to extensive fine art collections. Just 25 miles from Madrid is Alcala de Henares. Stroll the University of Alcoa and discover its 16th century architecture, or visit the home of the famous Spanish writer Cervantes, which has now been converted into a museum offering tours.
Just 30 miles from Madrid is the 16th century palace of San Loranzo de El Escorial, a World Heritage site. Part of the complex, the Pantheon of the Kings, is the gravesite of many of Spain's Habsburg and Bourbon kings and queens.
Transport Around Madrid
Barajas International Airport is just northeast of downtown Madrid. It connects to South American cities and most other parts of the world with daily direct and connecting flights. Madrid is also the hub for train service to other parts of Spain.
Madrid is a bustling city complete with activities for all ages. The best way to make the most of the Madrid tourist attractions is to hire a car, you can pick one up from the airport and cut out the costly airport transfers.
