Getting insurance as an older traveler can be a challenging task, particularly when it comes to renting a car while abroad. A number of companies simply refuse to rent vehicles to those over a specific age limit, 75 years old being the most widely used. One company recently introduced a new policy specifically designed for older travelers looking to hire cars while abroad.

Insurce4carhire.com is now offering an insurance policy for those over the age of 75. The policy covers the driver against damage to the rental car including damage to tires, windows and the vehicle’s undercarriage. Not only is the plan available to seniors, but it provides a level of coverage not usually offered by most car hire firms.

According to Larry Ursich of Insurance4carhire.com, a growing number of senior travelers are travelling and doing so independently. He thinks the trend is likely to grow rather than let up, as more and more people come into their retirement healthy, with disposable income and with a sense of adventure.

The senior’s coverage offered by Insurance4carhire.com also provides a reasonable level of excess. Excess payments under the insurance provided by car hire companies can sometimes be as high as £1,000, a cost which must be borne by the renter. The policy offered by Insurance4carhire.com has an excess of just £65 for those renting in Europe and £75 for worldwide car hires.
