Travelers planning on a domestic flight in America would be well advised to take out a travel insurance policy as the country’s domestic airlines continue along a trend of failing to deliver to their passengers.
The story of Guy and Mary Pearson is just one more example of a series of problems American passengers have been experiencing on internal flights in America. When the flights aren’t delayed and the baggage isn’t lost and the airline isn’t bankrupt, it appears that the airline is free to change travel plans on whim.
The couple booked a trip from the Northwest Arkansas Regional Airport to Jamaica. A month later they were contacted by U.S. Airways and told that the flight wouldn’t be happening. They were told they could still travel to Jamaica, but to do so, they would have to travel some distance and fly from Little Rock or Kansas City.
Fred and Elizabeth Herrmann found themselves in a similar situation earlier in the year. They purchased a round-trip ticket with Frontier Airlines from Tulsa to Denver to Spokane. They leave home on May 30th and have been told that the airline will stop serving Tulsa on June 1st, leaving their return trip plans up in the air.
Should travelers have to bear the costs of gas and hotel accommodation to fly from another airport than the one they booked?
Answering such questions can add unnecessary stress to travel plans. In order to make sure travel plans go smoothly, travelers are recommended to take out a comprehensive travel insurance plan that can help passengers with delayed and cancelled flights as well as with airline bankruptcy, lost baggage and a host of other problems that routinely occur while on the road and away from home.
