With more and more people going on holiday and doing something a little different than sunbathing and swimming, it is worth checking that the travel insurance policy will cover you for your bungee jump or kayak ride.
As new crazes are popping up all over the world, many insurance companies have been slow to add innovative sports to their cover lists. “Whatever activities you're planning on your holiday, make sure you tell your insurer. Many will be included on a standard policy, but it's always worth checking,” advised John Dacey, lifestyle claims manager for AXA.
AXA have already re-written its policies regarding various adventure sports to include novel activities like zorbing, where a person climbs into an inflatable ball and rolls down a hill at speeds reaching 30MPH. He advised that everyone should check with their insurer before partaking in these events. “Buying travel insurance should be as essential as checking they've tied the bungee rope to your foot before you jump,” said Mr. Dacey. But making sure that what is included in your policy will actually apply to you is even more important.
