Below are some bite sized bits of information to helping you prepare for a happy, healthy and safe holiday.

A - After Sun

Not only must you protect yourself from the sun but After Sun treatment is equally important. Using After Sun not only moisturises the skin that has beem exposed to the suns rays but it will also soothe and cool your skin and help prevent peeling.

B - Bacteria

Bacteria thrives on food, warmth and moisture and is a common factor in food poisoning or delhi belly while on holiday. Be careful when eating from buffets especially chicken, rice and shellfish. BBQ food must be thorougly cooked, hot buffet food must be piping hot and cold foods must be kept refrigerated.

C - Children's Car Seats

Driving is one of the most dangerous things we do, so it's important to make sure children and babies are safe when we take them in the car. Ensure that your child or baby has an appropriate child restraint. If hiring a car abroad make sure that this is pre booked.

D - Diarrhea

Diarrhea is a common problem that usually lasts a day or two and goes away on its own without any special treatment. This is quite common on holiday and can be caused by various reasons including bacterial or viral infections, food or drink intolerance or parasites. There are a number of products available to help treat the condition but always ensure you drink plenty of fluids ideally bottled water.

E - EHIC

EHIC forms are available at the Post Office, replacing the old E111 form. They are very easy to complete and give you access to some free or reduced cost treatments in many E U countries. A seperate form is required for each member of the family and those that have completed an EHIC receive in the post an EHIC card. Some travel insurance policies have a requirement that EHIC forms accompany their travel insurance policy.
