About the Resort
The Montafon Valley - which contains 11 resorts, is not very popular with the British because of its location. It is a bit remote and not easily accessed by the airport at Salzburg. In the summer months you can drive over the Arlberg Pass into Galtur and Ischgl. Ski resorts in the Montafon Valley are not restricted to High Montafon. Schruns and Tschagguns are two alternative ski venues, offering a wealth of beautiful slopes. In winter Bierlerhohe is a good launch pad for ski tours and there are high snow-sure cross country trails totaling 16 miles on or around the frozen lake. One of High Montafon's greatest assets is in providing skiing for all levels from novice to professional. You can also enjoy mono skiing and snow trekking and sleigh riding. Or visit some of the 12kms of mountain hiking trails.
About the Mountains near Montafon
There is a lengthy 11-kilometre run for the long distance enthusiasts and an additional 30kms of groomed cross-country slopes in the valley and 15kms of high-altitude trails around the Silvretta dam. The pistes at High Montafon are accessible via a system of 33 lifts as well asgondolas, chair lifts and T-bars with a capacity for 40,000 people per hour. The cluster of resorts that make up High Montafon offer over 100kms of ski slopes altogether, with 10 per cent of the slopes geared for beginners, 30 per cent for intermediates, 40 per cent for advanced skiers, and 20 per cent for experts.

High Montafon has several bars, ice bars, cafés and discos. Skiing is not the only activity available at High Montafon. Also on offer are snowboarding, mono-skiing, snow trekking, sleigh riding, indoor swimming and sauna. There are a lot of mountain restaurants to choose from some offering table service.
