About the Resort
Like many old towns in the US, this one began life as a mining town. Breckenridge has renovated its old buildings and they now form the bottom part of Main street a traffic busy main road. It has a lively town centre that hosts a number of winter festivals and an Ice Sculpting championships. It has hotels and condos spread over a wide wooded area and are linked by regular shuttle buses. Getting to the resort involves a relatively short transfer time from Denver.
About the Mountains near Breckenridge
There are four sectors which are linked by a lift and piste. The grooming is first class and sign posting, unlike in some US resorts, is very good. It has great snow reliability because it is so high up with an annual average of over 300 inches. With 55% of its slopes falling in the black category, this resort should keep the expert skier happy. Intermediates will enjoy the good blue cruising runs although the runs tend to be short and limited in extent. Beginners will find lots to keep them happy with a virtually flat are and gentle slopes to ease them along.

There are over 100 restaurants ranging in value and cusine. There are American style diners and Bistro style cafes. Mexican, Italian and Sushi form a rich tapestry of eateries. Its nigh life is said to be the best in the area and is lively and varied. Its mountain restaurants are improving. If you don't like skiing you could spend your time ice skating, in the gym or spa, fishing or dog sledding.
