Travel Insurance for Epilepsy

Epilepsy is the tendency to have seizures or fits caused by excess electrical activity in the brain. This causes a temporary disruption in the normal message passing between brain cells and can then cause a seizure or fit. There are many different types of seizures and each very indovidual to the person.

In the UK around one in 20 people will have a single seizure at some point in their life, whereas one in 131 people have epilepsy.

Generally epilepsy is treated with anti-epileptic drugs (AEDs). They act on the brain, trying to reduce seizures or stop seizures from happening. When taking AED's correctly those that normally suffer from epileptic fits or seizures fing that they end up with fewer or no seizures.

If you are epileptic we will need to determine the severity of your condition. When you get to the medical declaration section in our booking process you will be asked a number of questions. These questions are really straightforward. You will then be given a quote for any additional premium (cost), to include epilepsy travel insurance on your policy.
